Following his federal service, Kelly served two years with the prestigious Academy of Applied Science as CEO as well as director of the Academy's global Patent, Trademark & Copyright Research Foundation. He continues as adjunct professor at Franklin Pierce Law Center and as visiting lecturer at MIT's Sloan Graduate School and Fordham University's Graduate School of Business. Often referred to as the champion of America's inventors and entrepreneurs, Kelly was a cofounder of the United Inventors Association of the USA as well as the Inventors Network of the Capital Area. As an active member of the Intellectual Property Owners (IPO) Association, Don Kelly is Vice Chair of the Committee on Independent Inventors and Small Business. He is a member of the professional development faculty of the Licensing Executives Society - US & Canada, and has been designated as an overseas lecturer on behalf of the International Intellectual Property Institute where he serves on the Board of Advisors. Also, Kelly currently serves on the corporate board of directors of Patent Café, Inc. Frequently published, Don Kelly most recently co-authored the Inventor's Master Plan. Additionally, Kelly has contributed to such publications as: Inventors' Digest Magazine; The Inventor's Bible; American Heritage of Invention and Technology; Dream Merchant Magazine; the "Ask Don" column in America's Inventor e-magazine; Stand Alone, Inventor; Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society; From Patent to Profit; The Complete Idiot's Guide to Cashing in on Your Inventions; Midnight Engineering; and From Mind to Market.
